An old "friend" of ours has popped up on Channel 4's The Secret Millionaire.
This reality TV programme showcases "wealthy benefactors seeking to change the lives of others for the better".
This week James Benamor - the Lotus Elise-driving boss of the Richmond Group who is worth £77million - visited the streets of Moss Side, Manchester, to "give something back".
Benamor runs Advantage Loans and Tenant Loans and we've had plenty of complaints from people who'd like Benamor to "give something back" - preferably the money they paid for loans that never materialized.
Charlotte Ive of Weston-super-Mare wanted a car and said Advantage Loans offered her a loan at 23 per cent interest, for a £49.99 fee.
But when the offer arrived it was from another Benamor company, FLM, but at 44.5 per cent interest. Oh, and they've charged over £70.
Her mum Heather told us: "I am totally disgusted. She's asked for a refund but has had two letters back of total waffle."
Back on Channel 4, Benamor sobbed as he heard stories of life on the streets and said: "It's the people who believed in me who have made me successful."
Can't fault the logic. People believe what Advantage Loans says, and Benamor gets richer.
